- Surely no more than the introduction of KS2 did all those years ago..
-
- KS2 was /such/ an upgrade from KS1.3 that virtually all software written for
- KS2+ was incompatible (and rightly so, KS2 was very much better and more
- flexible). If Commodore hadn't forced these incompatibilities on the Amiga,
- we'd perhaps still be writing 1.3 compatible code right now.
-
- But now KS2 is the absolute minimum KS version required for 99% of software.
- Personally I think we should have pushed forward even more, and made KS3.0 the
- very basic required minimum (but then it's easy for me to say that, as I don't
- use a pre-V39 KS)..
-
- Unless software producers release versions of their software for PPC /and/
- 680x0, then perhaps the PowerAmiga /will/ split the users. But I'm sure it'll
- only be a temporary thing. Everyone I know is excited about the prospect of
- PowerAmiga, and I know I'll be buying one as soon as I can get my hands on one.
- This is a necessary step in order for the Amiga to move forwards instead of
- continuing to stay where it has been now for several years.
-
- (I think it'll be interesting watching Aminet as every single programmer in the
- world releases PPC-compiled versions of his old utilities. Should be fun! ;)
